ANDERSON ANNOUNCES FULLY BIODEGRADABLE POTS
Product FlyerPORTLAND, OR; March 19, 2010 – Vice President Rick Anderson of the pioneer Oregon nursery container company, Anderson Die & Manufacturing, has announced the company’s new Anderson Eco Choice line of Fully Biodegradable injection molded nursery containers is now in production at the company’s Portland manufacturing facility. The new Eco Choice biodegradable pots are made from recycled plastic and require nospecial handling or storage. These pots feature normal container longevity – they do not biodegrade in normal usage. Biodegrading occurs only after the pots are introduced into a landfill or compost with other biodegrading materials. The pots are environmentally safe with no toxic effects. Anderson’s Eco Choice containers feature an inverted triangle design on the band under the container lip to clearly indicate they are biodegradable. All such pots are produced in accordance with the ECM Certificate of Biodegradability issued to Anderson Die & Manufacturing in February, 2010. After degrading, containers do not return to the environment as small pieces, but as biomass and humus. The process is ecologically safe and involves no heavy metals. Anderson Die & Manufacturing sees a large potential market for these environmentally friendly containers as more and more northwest nurseries indicate concern with what happens to the plastic containers they use or sell after they are no longer needed. Anderson has upgraded its manufacturing capability with state-of-the-art Husky Hylectric plastic injection molding machines in anticipation of the increasing demand for the new Eco Choice biodegradable containers, as well for Anderson’s various other pots, trays, saucers, bands and bandpots. |
